There are still many places to go for scuba
diving in United Arab Emirates although coastal developments in Dubai have affected the diving spots from
the west coast of the country. Mainly due to a reduced visibility at most of the
dive sites. However the other Emirates offer great scuba diving spots for the
adventurers and enthusiasts.
Scuba diving is a very popular recreational or educational
activity of swimming under water or taking part in another activity, while
using a scuba set. By carrying a
source of breathing gas (usually compressed air), the scuba diver is able to stay underwater longer than with the simple breath-holding techniques used in snorkeling and free-diving, and is not hindered
by air lines to a remote air source. The scuba diver typically swims
underwater by using fins attached to the feet.
Different
marine life can be seen at various scuba diving spots in the UAE. You can
enjoy the sight of turtles, eels, octopus, batfish, snapper, jacks, parrotfish,
soft corals occasional rays, hammerhead and reef sharks. In Fujairah, one of the seven Emirates of
the UAE, you may find barracuda, tuna, squid, seahorses, lionfish and
clownfish as well as seeing hard corals. If you are very lucky, whale and
reef sharks can be also seen in the area.
It is
advisable not to do scuba diving in United Arab Emirates during summer like late
June to August. The most advisable months are from September to November or March
to May. UAE has excellent diving spots like Fujairah, one of the seven Emirates
which is located near Oman and Abu Dhabi. Otherwise you can also explore scuba diving
in Oman which is just few hours’ drive from the UAE.
Do you like camping? Many are thinking about what they want to do over the summer now that the weather is getting nicer.
Camping is a popular activity, and a lot of persons like to locate good camping sites as early in the year as they can. When calling a place to book a site, it is important to ask a few very important questions, as not all of these camping grounds are good, and each site offers something different. Some sites are just awful, and it is always good to stay away from those. This is something that I learned all to well and I also learned it the hard way.
