The Middle East

The Middle East region in general and Abu Dhabi in particular have enjoyed an economic boom in recent years, leading to large numbers of High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI's) with large amounts of disposable income.

According to the latest World Wealth Report by Merrill Lynch and Capgemini, the UAE's millionaire population surged 15.3 per cent from 68,000 in 2006 to 79,000 last year with a combined total wealth of $91 billion, making it one of the countries that has highest growth in personal wealth.

While this boom appears to be over for the moment, and expatriates and locals alike are conscious of their spending, this is leading to residents looking for creative and budget-friendly ways to spend their free time.  Many of the adventure and adrenaline sports in the region offer just this, given the natural landscapes of mountains, wadis, sea and sand.

With over 350 days of sunshine every year, both locals and expatriates alike take advantage of the good weather and engage in outdoor pursuits, making adrenaline sports a thriving market in the region.
